6. Earn your Thanksgiving calories at the Arlington Turkey Trot.
If your Thanksgiving plans include consuming your body weight in mashed potatoes, why not preemptively burn a few calories for a good cause? An annual tradition, the Arlington Turkey Trot is a non-competitive 5K held at 8 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning. Families are welcome to bring strollers, children of all ages and even dogs, and some runners show up in costumes. Advance registration required (see the race’s website): $45 for adults, $25 for children, and free for children ages six and under. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Arlington Food Assistance Center, A-SPAN and Arlington Thrive.
Date: Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22
Location: Course begins at Christ Church of Arlington, 3020 N. Pershing Drive, Arlington
