Spend the day creating movement, maps and stories that takes the group to locations around the world. Take flight with The Magic Butterfly Day Camp
Build physical skill and challenge creativity while exploring movement, theatre technique, and visual art. The day long exploration includes movement, a fun visual art project, performance practice, and weather permitting, a trip outdoors to a nearby park. Wear loose fitting clothing, and bring snacks, lunch, and a water bottle. Our camp packet is a helpful guide with class descriptions, emergency contact form and waiver.
About Jane Franklin Dance
Jane Franklin Dance partners with music, media, visual artists and community participants. Jane Franklin Dance has been presented at multiple venues and festivals and internationally in Mexico. A recipient of the Community Foundation for the National Capital Region Creative Communities Award, Jane has developed innovative and collaborative projects combining dancers with the round wall skateboarding community, with a life size kinetic sculpture, with the architecture of a specific site, with dogs & owners, and with interactive live video and sound for numerous public art projects. Jane Franklin is a recipient of the American Association of University Women Elizabeth Campbell Award for the Advancement of the Arts in Arlington, and her video work Four Mile Run Footbridge was selected for PHOTO/VIDEO 13: Juried Mid-Atlantic Exhibition. Jane Franklin Dance has been recognized by Virginia’s Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts. The company tours for the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Paul Mellon Arts in Education Program and the Virginia Commission’s Tour Directory.

Mix It Up, a concert series at Theatre on the Run in Arlington features dance, music and movement by distinctive Washington DC area artists. Each week look for a different up-close performance. Who will perform and when? Mix It Up takes place on Saturdays November 9, 16 and 23, 2019 at 7:30 pm with performances by Jane Franklin Dance, Forty+ by Kelsey Rohr, Light Switch Dance Theatre and choreography by Emily Crews and Rachel Luebbert.

Forty+ Project is an eight week series of creative rehearsals to develop new dance work. Directed by professional dance choreographer, Carly Johnson, Forty+ celebrates the collective creativity of people past the age of 40. Forty+ is frequently seen in concerts presented by Jane Franklin Dance and for organizations serving older adults.
This project culminates with a performance at Theatre on the Run on January 25, 2020. The project is open to people of all physical facilities. No previous performance experience is necessary.
Class times: Tuesdays from 11:30-1:30 pm between November 12 – January 14.
