Opening Reception and Meet the Artists: Friday, July 12, 5-7pm

Arlington, VA –During July, Gallery Clarendon’s Overlook Gallery features “Black and White,” a group show interpreting an artist’s classic “colorless” approach but with a twist. Although no color is apparent in these works, no black paint was used either—instead, the “blacks” are really a mixture of other colors. “This dynamic expression made us examine every day scenes in a unique way,” says painter and teacher Jane Coonce who conceived of the exhibit. Also featured are new works from Gallery members in the main gallery including: paintings, sculpture, jewelry and metalwork, glass, wood and ceramics, mixed media and photography.
Gallery Clarendon has been named our area’s “Best Place to Buy Local Art” in Arlington Magazine’s 2019 reader survey. Located in the Clarendon neighborhood of Arlington, Virginia, this popup art space showcases local art, offers classes, hosts events and manages on-site professional artist studios, and is sponsored by the Arlington Artists Alliance (AAA), in partnership with Regency Centers/Market Common.
The Arlington Artists Alliance offers both day and evening art classes at this location in a variety of media for all ages. Studios Clarendon artist studios on the second floor are open to the public during normal Gallery hours, and provide an intriguing artistic destination for area residents, employees, and visitors.
The Arlington Artists Alliance is a vital, energetic, creative force for visual art in Arlington County. The organization encourages and supports both established and emerging artists who work in all forms of visual art, without partiality toward style or trend. Its 150 members also exhibit year-round at a variety of Arlington community venues (including the group’s other venue, Gallery Underground in Crystal City), local government offices, businesses, restaurants and cafes.
