Arlington, VA – During July, Gallery Underground features creative work interpreting the topical (and tropical) theme “Hot!” in our Focus Gallery. Come in and cool off with a dose of sizzling artistry! Visitors will also find new works by Gallery members in the main gallery including paintings, sculpture, glass, ceramics, and woodworking.
This month’s featured artist is watercolorist Tony Neville whose show, “Our National Mall in Color,” depicts vivid local scenes including the Capitol, Washington Monument, and Jefferson Memorial.
Located in the Crystal City Shops at 2100 Crystal Drive, Arlington, VA 22202, this visual arts venue showcases the work of established and emerging regional artists. It is one of two large gallery spaces for the 200-member Arlington Artists Alliance; the other is Gallery Clarendon at 2800 Clarendon Blvd. in Arlington.
Each month the gallery changes its entire exhibit and presents a new show from its talented members in many forms: paintings, sculpture, glass and ceramic work, jewelry, mixed media and photography. Gallery Underground anchors the visual arts component of Crystal City’s Art Underground, and on First Fridays (first Friday of every month), it hosts an art reception free and open to all from 5-7pm, along with Crystal City’s Art Underground “First Friday” events where you can also jam at ArtJamz Underground, take a stroll along the Fotowalk, and catch a show at Synetic Theater.
Gallery Underground has been named our region’s “Best Art Gallery” in Northern Virginia Magazine’s 2019 reader survey. In addition to monthly rotating exhibitions, Gallery Underground hosts a variety of community events, like lunchtime paint-ins and dance and musical performances. Gallery Underground is sponsored by the Arlington Artists Alliance (AAA), in partnership with the Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID), and JBG Smith. For more information about Gallery events, visit www.galleryunderground.org.
Gallery Hours: Mon-Fri 10am – 6pm
Metro accessible. Parking is available in metered spots on nearby streets and in public garages, which are free on weekends and after 4pm on weekdays.
