Memorial Day Flowers Tribute at Arlington National Cemetery
Join the volunteers with the Memorial Day Flowers Foundation as they place tens of thousands of flowers to honor our fallen troops and veterans at Arlington National Cemetery for Memorial Day. Register in advance to volunteer on our website at www.MemorialDayFlowers.org for Arlington National Cemetery. Meet up at McClellan Arch at 12noon to pick up flowers and your assignments. This event is family friendly. Watch the weather and ride metro to the Cemetery if possible. Remember to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen.
We are hoping to place 240,000 flowers this year, and currently have 150,000 donated (as of April 2019).
The Memorial Day Flowers Foundation began in 2011 after U.S. citizens working in the floral industry wanted to express their patriotism and profound appreciation for the sacrifices made by America’s military men and women. They began with placing 10,000 roses at Arlington National Cemetery for Memorial Day in 2011. They continue to work with Arlington National Cemetery to place flowers annually for Memorial Day and have expanded their efforts with the help of donors, volunteers and businesses to cemeteries around the country. The Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
