South Moon Under is a dangerous place to work, according to first assistant manager Kate Lang, who works (and shops) at the Clarendon boutique. “I don’t really take home a paycheck,” she says.

Although the store is one of 18 in a chain stretching from Virginia to New York, its eclectic mix of merchandise makes it feel like a one-off. Shelves are stocked with J Brand jeans, Chan Luu bracelets, Kate Spade perfume, TOMS Shoes, Spanx, cookbooks and candles, among other goodies.

“They have a little bit of everything,” says Waycroft-Woodlawn resident Diane Felice, a jewelry designer, who is wearing the Hudson jeans she bought on her last visit as she searches for a dress for a rehearsal dinner in the Bahamas. “You can usually find something you like, no matter what.”
