Best Orthopedic Surgeon
David Romness
David Romness’ father, brother and brother-in-law are all orthopedic surgeons, so when he was choosing a surgical specialty, it felt natural to go into the same field. He also was drawn to the fact that orthopedic cases tend to have positive outcomes. “I like seeing people get better,” he says, “and most of our patients get better.”
An Arlington native and Yorktown High School graduate, Romness earned his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School and was an intern and resident at the Mayo Clinic. He returned to Arlington in the ’90s and joined Commonwealth Orthopaedics in 1996. (As of this January, Commonwealth will merge with Ortho Virginia, a Richmond-based practice.) He specializes in joint replacement surgery and geriatric orthopedics and also holds a teaching position at Georgetown University.
When he’s not spending his spare time with his wife and three kids (two are in college, one is still in high school), Romness donates his services at the Arlington Free Clinic, which provides free, high-quality care to low-income, uninsured Arlington adults. “It’s very successful,” he says. “We’re quite passionate about it.”
