Elevation Burger
You won’t find any free action figures or ball pits at Elevation Burger, yet the place is pulsing with happy youngsters. “We don’t give out toys, so the kids are driven here by the taste of the burger,” says Lisa Vohra, who co-owns franchises in Arlington and Vienna with her husband, Neeraj Vohra.
Taste isn’t the only thing to love. Elevation Burger serves only organic, grass-fed, free-range beef that meets the criteria of halal—an Islamic principle dictating the humane treatment of animals. The very first Elevation Burger store opened in Falls Church in 2005; now the chain has locations worldwide. The beef hails from more than 100 family farms, and is ground fresh in house.
This burger joint takes its ethics seriously, but for those who crave decadence, there is the Vertigo Burger. Whereas a standard Elevation Burger comes with two patties, the Vertigo option allows you to stack as many as 10. Pair one of those babies with a thick creamy shake and you have yourself a sinful—but still organic—afternoon.
