Right up there with fire and the wheel among the world’s all-time greatest inventions is the magical machine that injects warm Nutella into pastries. Where can you find such a wonder in the D.C. area? At The Italian Store’s Washington Boulevard location, where, upon request, the counterperson will pump the creamy, addictive, hazelnutty-chocolaty spread into fresh-baked cornetti (similar to croissants) or bomboloni (Italian doughnuts). Our money’s on the latter as this year’s most popular any-time-of-day indulgence. It’s like a sugary little pastry balloon oozing with happiness.
