President and owner Chuck Hall doesn’t mind sharing the secret to his company’s success: “It’s because [our employees] are honest people with integrity,” he says, “and we pay them to stay with us.” Since 1989, Winston’s has been sweeping, cleaning, inspecting and replacing chimneys and fireplaces in Arlington and beyond. When they’re not at your home, these pros are making sure all 62 fireplaces at the U.S. Capitol are in working order—a tall task, considering that more than half of those historic hearths are used on a regular basis. Today, Hall has even bigger aspirations: “I want the White House.”
