Best Place to Buy Local Art

Artists are resourceful and creative by nature—which perhaps explains how some 55 members of the Arlington Artists Alliance have taken up residence in a former restaurant space on Clarendon Boulevard. Today, tucked amid the former occupant’s stainless-steel kitchen equipment, wine racks and bar, you’ll find painterly landscapes by Donna Lomangino, funky glassworks by Steena Fullmer-Anderson, life-size oil portraits by Bryan King (he also did the wall mural inside nearby Whitlow’s on Wilson) and kaleidoscopic equestrian scenes by Dhamin Jassim. The quirky exhibit space is a pop-up that will last only until the building owner finds a new restaurant tenant, says gallery director Sandi Parker. But for now, it’s the place to go for rotating shows, with opening receptions on the second Friday of every month. January brings “Signs of the Times,” a national juried exhibit curated by local artist and Art League instructor Beverly Ryan.
