Whether building or remodeling a client’s home, Chad Hackmann has found that transparency is crucial to the project’s success. As owner and managing partner of Alair Homes Arlington (formerly Arlington Construction Management), Hackmann uses a new approach to residential construction called Client Control Construction Management. Alair’s Client Control™ is delivered through proprietary software and gives clients complete control over their decisions, budget and timeline. Through an interactive web portal, clients view exact pricing, select vendors and approve all costs before construction even begins. Surprises are virtually eliminated and clients feel more comfortable knowing what to expect. “Client Control gives them a clear picture of every aspect of the process from start to finish,” says Hackmann. “This level of transparency really is unique in this industry.” Additionally, each client has a dedicated project manager who visits the worksite every day and checks in frequently.
Having lived in Arlington for more than 20 years, Hackmann has become very familiar with the wants and needs of Arlington clients. “My wife and I are raising our four kids here. I know what it’s like to need more space or a more functional home.” An active member of the community, Hackmann is involved with Homes For Our Troops, a nonprofit organization that provides customized, accessible housing to wounded veterans in our area. “What it really comes down to is listening to the needs of each client, whether that means upgrading, expanding or changing the layout to better fit their lives,” he says. “Our clients play a central role in their home build or renovation, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
