Danine Fresch Gray, DDS
What is unique about your practice?
Our “Caring for the Mouth, Mind and Body” mantra embodies our culture and mission. Over the past 25 years we have embraced the whole body approach, building trusting relationships with our dental family. We empower patients to make oral health part of their long-term healthy living plan. Today’s known links between systemic conditions—such as heart disease, diabetes and Alzheimer’s—and oral conditions challenge us to promote risk factor analysis, including oral DNA testing, and conservative, yet proactive, treatment options. We strive to determine the “whys” behind dental challenges to keep our patients healthy for a lifetime—not just the next six months.
What’s an example of a time you helped a patient that you’re particularly proud of?
A patient presented with a very infected mouth and was exhausted by the continuous cycle of fillings and new crowns. After determining the underlying issues, we restored her to health and her smile is beautiful. More importantly, she’s regained her confidence and the decrease in her body’s inflammatory responses allowed her to stop taking thyroid medication. On a good day, we create beautiful smiles. On a great day, we save lives!
How do you serve your community?
Community outreach is very important to my team. We recently helped support the launch of the Arlington Free Clinic’s Oral Health Program, which serves hundreds of patients otherwise unable to access dental care. Identifying those who are most vulnerable in their health needs and who have the most risk factors for diabetes, heart disease, cancer and all inflammatory diseases are also those who have the most dental needs.
