Deirdre J. Maull, DMD, MS
What brings you the most satisfaction in your work?
The opportunity to help people and guide them through what is often a transformative process. I get to see kids grow into confident teenagers and go off to college, and I am able to help adults who have felt self-conscious about their teeth laugh and smile freely. It’s a humbling experience.
What is unique about your practice?
We are very patient-focused. We take the time to get to know each patient at a personal level to really understand their goals. This is difficult to achieve in a large multispecialty practice. We also emphasize honesty and integrity—trust is the cornerstone of a strong doctor-patient relationship. We offer our patients honest assessments, never pressuring them into treatment. We want our patients to be happy and come back to visit even after their treatment is complete—either for a checkup or just to say hello.
How do you employ new technology to help your patients?
I value the importance of staying at the forefront of this constantly evolving field. Our state-of-the-art office includes such modern technology as 3D scanners and low-radiation x-rays. I specialize in Craniofacial Orthodontics, cleft lip and palate, and some of the newest treatment modalities, including presurgical infant orthopedics.
What is one thing your patients should know about you?
I love the blending of art and science in orthodontics. It is an environment where I can think both clinically and creatively. My background in mechanical engineering and art—I draw, play violin and piano—allow me to consider esthetics and functionality as I create beautiful, healthy smiles.
