James F. Anderson, Esq.
James Anderson understands—in a very personal way—the family conflicts that can arise after someone passes away. Disputes over who would inherit his great-grandfather’s property caused hard feelings that lasted for decades, ultimately leading to a breakdown in relationships among his own family members. Now, as an attorney with Arlington Law Group, Anderson helps other families avoid similar situations. He assists clients with a variety of estate planning needs, from basic wills and powers of attorney to complex trusts and estate tax planning. As part of his client-centered approach, he always takes the time to break down legal concepts and talk through a client’s options. “What distinguishes me is my focus on making the entire process accessible to my clients,” he says. “I go the extra mile to ensure that they understand what we’re doing and why we’re doing it.” Above all, the most gratifying part of his job is building relationships. “I enjoy hearing my clients’ stories, learning about their objectives, and then translating all of that into a plan that works for them.”
A longtime supporter of first responders, Anderson has volunteered with Wills for Heroes, a program offering free wills to police officers, EMTs and firefighters. “Providing these services free of charge is my way of giving back to people who have made it their life’s work to keep us safe,” he says. He and his colleagues also provide complimentary presentations to the general public at libraries, condo associations and other venues. “Education is crucial when planning for the future,” he says. “My goal is to help people make wise decisions and gain peace of mind.”
