2. Attend a Billy Joel tribute concert.

Madison Square Garden it is not. But if you love intimate music venues, The State Theatre is your jam. The Stranger (it’s a cover band) does a rendition of “Scenes From an Italian Restaurant” that’s spot-on, and front man Mike Santoro proves to be a fine piano man.  The six-piece band emulates Billy Joel’s iconic, soulful sound with a set list of fan-favorites, plus a touch of Elton John and Paul McCartney sprinkled in for good measure.

Date: Sept. 7, doors open at 7 p.m., show starts at 9 p.m.

Location: The State Theatre, 220 N. Washington St., Falls Church
