Bayou Bakery Coffee Bar & Eatery

Chef-owner David Guas is a New Orleans native, and he doesn’t mess around when it comes to that city’s biggest holiday. His Courthouse cafe will host a party on Fat Tuesday, March 5, from 6-9 p.m., with $5 cocktails and food specials like red beans and rice and jambalaya. Sweets seekers will revel in puffy beignets and slices of the chef’s special B.B. King Cake—filled with creole cream cheese and covered in colorful icing. With two days notice, you can also order a whole cake for takeout, complete with Mardi Gras beads and a lucky plastic baby. (Guas is also staging a big bash in D.C. with live music, a costume contest and a cocktail competition.)
