Busy households can be short on time and tight on space. For help wrangling the chaos, it’s nice to call on someone whose entire professional life hinges on space optimization. Enter Jacqueline Elaine, who runs her Arlington home organization business alongside a career as a United Airlines flight attendant, and who understands that certain possessions come with feelings attached. “A lot of my work, it’s therapy,” says the 31-year-old Texas native. “I have a client who’s a widow. I just hug her sometimes and let her cry when we go through things.” Another client, a growing family, called on Elaine to prep their nursery, cull and donate old baby clothes, and put age-appropriate toys on rotation as they welcomed each of their three children. “There’s emotional capacity behind it,” she says. “I try to make sure people are understanding that is also a part of the service.” –Susan Anspach
