Arlington native Andrew Moore, president of Arlington Designer Homes, has served as a translator at the Arlington Free Clinic, on Arlington Public School planning commissions and as president of the Custom Builders Council.
Q: Please give us a brief history of ADH.
A: Arlington Designer Homes is a custom home builder specializing in green energy efficient construction. My father started ADH’s home building business forty years ago! Twenty years later, I took over day-to-day operations. We have seen so many changes over the years: the population of Arlington has doubled, the amount of vacant land has decreased and the rules of building have completely changed.
Q: How has the industry changed over the course of your career?
A: I used to say with enough time and money anyone could build their own home. That is no longer the case today. Now you need a specialist to walk you through all the rules and regulations, zoning, building codes, new material and design trends, as well as an experienced individual who will manage the overall project.
