Bubble tea originated in Taiwan, but today the craze has gone global. Just look at all the local tea shops and restaurants serving milky or fruity beverages filled with boba (chewy tapioca pearls) or popping boba (which are juice-filled). Chill Zone Café

This Vietnamese-American fusion café and Best of Arlington 2026 winner has been an Arlington fixture for 10 years. Two of its most popular drinks are the Frosty Mango and Thai Milk Tea, says co-CEO Alan Omar. Customers can add boba to most cold drinks on the menu, including smoothies, frappes and refreshers. The traditional pearls include tapioca, honey or crystal, while popping boba (juice-filled spheres that burst when you bite them) come in flavors such as strawberry, mango and lychee. Bees & Tea

A sister spot to full-service Vietnamese restaurant Saigon Saigon, this fast-casual takeout offers quick bites and sips. Treat yourself to fruity boba teas in flavors such as mango or passionfruit—or try a milky concoction such as Purple Dream (taro milk tea with taro puree, flan caramel custard and black honey boba) or the Seafoam Boba, made with pistachio milk tea, sea salt, pistachio nuts and black honey boba. Made with tea sourced from Taiwan, this chain started in Queens in 2010 and now has more than 350 locations nationwide. Its bubble tea options include traditional tapioca, Coffee Popping Bubbles, Grape and Mango. Maybe this Courthouse eatery isn’t top of mind as a boba shop, but it has 13 types of bubble tea on the menu.
