Gift Alert: HBFiori Flowers
Floral designer Hermon Black makes things prettier.
Hermon Black has a background in fashion and retail, but her love of flowers has deep roots. “Growing up in East Africa, we had formal gardens everywhere. My mother would allow me to gather flowers from our garden to fill her vases,” she reminisces.
Black moved to Arlington in 2006 and is now the talent behind HBFiori, a floral design shop that offers everything from individual bouquets and flower-crowns for a little one’s birthday to stunning centerpieces for small-scale weddings and celebrations. “My vases and vessels are really special, too—teacups for parties, glass pitchers, lots of ceramic containers and some metal ones,” says the mom of two.
HBFiori also supplies subscription-based clients with biweekly arrangements for their homes and businesses, working with whatever is plentiful and in season. “An arrangement doesn’t need to be filled with one favorite flower to make a big impact,” Black says. “You can mix and match blooms and highlight certain favorites.”
