Good news for beer and sushi lovers: Clarendon’s Oasis: The Listening Bar has rolled out a new menu of lunch combos, including a jewel-toned chirashi bowl flanked by a flight of Joy Boy beers ($35).Â
Essentially a deconstructed sushi roll, the chirashi ensemble tops fragrant rice with pickled vegetables, sashimi, nori and roe. It comes with a cup of miso soup bobbing with silken tofu. But my favorite part of the deal is the choose-your-own sampler of house-branded beers from Loudoun County. Oasis co-founder Drew Srirote played a hand in their development, joining Joy Boy founder Ake Charoenphong to craft suds that complement Asian cuisine. (Srirote and his wife, Tammie Disayawathana, also own several other restaurants, incuding multiple locations of Sisters Thai.)
Guests can build a three-part flight, selecting from 10 different Joy Boy brews. The house pilsner is a crisp thirst quencher, while the caramel-tinted amber lager has a bit more heft. The creamy stout is a full-bodied sipper with hints of bourbon and a chocolatey finish.
