It’s a gobbly-good time that’s become an annual tradition in Arlington.

Before you indulge in turkey, stuffing and pie, pull on your sneakers and run or walk a 5K on Nov. 24 to benefit local charities and community organizations. Now in its 17th year, the Arlington Turkey Trot draws more than 4,000 participants each Thanksgiving morning with the shared goal of helping neighbors in need.

This year’s theme, “Community Partners United in Service to Others,” celebrates this tradition of giving and thankfulness by raising funds for 18 local nonprofits, including the Arlington Food Assistance Center, Arlington Thrive, Bridges to Independence, OAR, PathForward and many others.

Registration is $50 for adults; $25 for kids 6-17; free for children 5 and younger. Online registration closes Sunday, Nov. 20, at 8 p.m. The race will take place on Thanksgiving morning, with an official start time of 8 a.m.

The traditional racecourse begins at the corner of Garfield and Pershing, one block from Christ Church of Arlington (3020 N. Pershing Drive, Arlington) and winds through Lyon Park and Ashton Heights. An optional alternative 5K route may also be available.
