Charlottesville, Va.-based Relay Foods was a regional innovator in the Northern Virginia grocery delivery space, buying up smaller farm-box delivery brands before it merged this year with Colorado-based Door to Door Organics. The two brands have combined their approaches to offer a delivery service that is a cross between groceries and meal kits under the Door to Door brand. The service is still based on a basic farm box model, to which customers can add specialty products. A small organic produce box starts at $24.99 and delivery is $5, or free with a $75 order.
