Shoulder Cat Studio
Named for the preferred perch of one of its feline residents (on the shoulders of working artists) Shoulder Cat started as a personal home studio in a 280 square-foot garage. In 2023, owner and longtime Arlington resident Julie Vu relocated to a bigger space, which she now uses as a teaching studio and ceramics boutique—selling her own stuff as well as donated pieces from fellow DMV potters to benefit area nonprofits. Since 2020, proceeds from sales have raised nearly $6,000 for local charities. Vu blends nostalgic elements, bright colors and cultural references from her Vietnamese American background in giftables such as ramen bowls, matcha bowls and whisk holders.
