Lubber Run Summer Concert Series

Where: Lubber Run Amphitheater, 200 N. Columbus St., Arlington

When: June 14-Sept. 15

The summer-long Lubber Run concert series—now in its 50th year—begins with Grammy-nominated jazz artist Raul Midón on Friday, June 14 (and some free ice cream from a vintage Good Humor truck) and continues with D.C.-based singer-songwriter Justin Jones on Saturday. Free.

Escape Velocity

When: June 14-Aug. 19

McLean-based abstract painter Chee-Keong Kung is said to infuse his work with elements of both the natural and man-made world, as well as visual references to his native Singapore. Free.

Columbia Pike Movie Nights

Where: Arlington Mill Community Center (909 S. Dinwiddie St., Arlington), Penrose Square (2597 Columbia Pike, Arlington)

When: June 14-Aug. 24

The Columbia Pike Revitalization Organization celebrates “heroes and sheroes” this year in their series of film selections. The season gets started with Moana on June 14 (at Arlington Mill) and Black Panther on June 15 (at Penrose Square). Free.

Plein Air Festival Competition

Where: Falls Church City Hall Grounds, 300 Park Ave., Falls Church

When: June 15, 10 a.m.

Entries in the 2019 Falls Church “Scenes in the City” Plein Air Festival will be on display and winners of the two-month-long competition announced at noon at the Falls Church Farmers Market. Free.
