McLean is about to get more “peace,” “love” and “carbs,” courtesy of Call Your Mother.

The Lil Deli, a mobile bagelry from the popular D.C.-based eatery, is slated to roll into the recently upgraded Chesterbrook shopping center later this month or in early May. It’s the first Virginia location for the “Jew-ish” deli run by husband-and-wife team Andrew Dana and Daniela Moreira.

“We’re stoked to bring good carbs and good vibes to the people of North Virginia who have been asking us to expand into their neighborhood for a while,” Dana said in a press release. “We built this Lil Deli to be able to take the CYM experience to more places, and are excited that McLean will be its first home.”

The kiosk on wheels will offer patio seating and serve the full Call Your Mother menu, including coffee, sweets and bagels. Highlights include the Bacon Sun City—a bacon, egg and cheese sammie on an everything bagel with spicy honey—as well as chocolate babka muffins, pizza bagels and the cinn-y crunch latte, made with cinnamon syrup.

Fans can also expect seasonal menu items and collaborations with One Trick Pony, an organic peanut butter label (Dana and Moreira are co-founders) that blends Argentinian peanuts with Patagonian sea salt.

The food-truck-meets-tiny-house is the ninth outpost for Call Your Mother, which opened its first shop in D.C.’s Park View neighborhood in 2018. The brand now has seven storefronts in D.C. and Maryland, a trolley in Bethesda and stands at several area farmers markets, plus a forthcoming eatery in Denver—its first outside the DMV.

Dana and Moreira are also the team behind “sorta-South American” restaurant Mercy Me in the District and Timber Pizza, which has locations in Ballston Quarter and Reagan National Airport. Moreira, who grew up in Argentina, received James Beard Award “Rising Star Chef of the Year” nominations in 2018 and 2020 for helming the pizzeria.

The Lil Deli will be one of several neighborhood spots for bagels in McLean, joining StarNut Gourmet, Chesapeake Bagel Bakery and Santini’s New York Style Deli, among others.

The Lil Deli will be located at 6216 Old Dominion Drive in McLean. It will be open from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. daily.
