New District Brewing Co.

Where you’re sitting: At an oak barrel doubling as a high-top table in this parking lot that doubles as a beer garden. In nice weather, the year-old brewery in Shirlington throws its garage doors open, and beer lovers and board-game players (and their dogs) come running.

What you’re drinking: A dozen or so eclectic drafts from a former homebrewer. Think hefeweizen brewed with Virginia honeysuckle, a Belgian saison brewed with Greek mountain herbs and an English pale ale aged with staves from merlot barrels.

A little something extra: No, they don’t serve food, but you’ll find the occasional food truck there on weekends. As well as beer-fueled yoga classes.
